A Bit Of Chaos, A Lot Of Memories

These past few days have been pretty chaotic to say the least, but in the best way possible. I ended my vacation in California on Thursday, after spending a day at Disney California Adventure, which was amazing by the way! I never thought I’d enjoy riding so many kiddie rides, but it brought back so many memories! Bug’s Life was always one of my favorite movies, so riding Flik’s Flyers three times was a bit of a flash back. And I got this gem of a picture with my crazy cute cousin!
After flying back into Austin, I jumped right back into my Texas life and headed straight to our local stadium for some drum corps! If you hadn’t found out in my previous posts, I’m a bit of a band geek (or color guard to be more specific), so when a drum corps competition is hosted in my city, you can bet that I’ll be there, even if my flight lands at the time that it starts. Long sentence. Anyway, that unfortunately got rained out, which I’m not totally complaining about, because we needed that rain. Gotta love Texas!
I’d planned to knock a bunch of things off my to-do list yesterday, but after seeing Jana’s redesign of her blog at Life Could Be A Dream, I was inspired to start working on my new blog design! I’ve been wanting to do this for about a month now, but with my crazy vacation schedule, I never had the time. I’m going to spend the next week or so learning more about coding and blog design, because I want to at least attempt to design my own website before handing it off to someone else. I know that’s a bit of a feat to take on, but I have a month of freedom before college starts to figure it all out!
One thing I did realize is that I have no idea how to design my own logo. I have an idea in mind, but I don’t know how to get that idea out of my journal and onto my blog. If anyone has experience with designing blog logos, I’d love any advice you have! Really, I’d appreciate any design advice. Seriously. I’m starting this thing from scratch, with Web Design for Dummies and Google by my side.
I’m going to have to take a break from that project for a bit though, because today I’m heading down to San Antonio for yet another drum corps competition! I’ve got my tea and breakfast tacos ready to go (strange combo, but I love them both), so let the road trip begin!
Apologies for the short post, but to make up for it, I’m debuting my new series tomorrow (yes, I mean it this time), Snapshot Sunday! I’m excited to finally add some structure to this blog, and I hope y’all enjoy it!

Why The Little Things In Life Mean So Much

I’ve always been intrigued by the way people fall in love with things. The way a girl in art class takes an interest in painting, and years later can’t be caught without a canvas by her side. Or the way someone learns an instrument because they signed up for band in middle school, and ends up going to college as a music major. It’s such a fascinating process to watch, especially if you get to witness it from the beginning, when they have no idea how their future will be impacted by what they’re starting now. I started to ponder this idea though, and I realized that when someone says they love something, an entire story lies behind that broad assertion. There is so much that goes into creating a feeling worthy of that label, and it’s those little things that we really fall in love with. The details that we often overlook, and yet undoubtedly play a huge part in the reason we found a passion in something.
My love for blogging is no exception to this idea. Sometimes I ask myself, Why do I do this? And answering that with “because I love blogging” would completely guide around the real reasons:
Because of the way it allows me to share my thoughts with others. Because it let’s me tap into my creative side and constantly design new things. Because I’m a tech-geek and the idea of creating a website and running it sounds beyond fun to me. Because I constantly get to meet new people and develop relationships with others just like me. Because it’s taught me things I didn’t know about myself before, and given me a source of endless potential. That’s why I love blogging.
And I never would’ve known I’d fall in love with those things back in March when I created a Blogger account, typed “Seeking Individuality” into the title box, and pressed create.
I planned on going into a whole spiel about all the little things I’ve discovered in everything I love, but I realized two things: that list could go on forever, and the majority of it would be about color guard, which is a completely foreign subject to most of you (I could seriously write a 10 page paper on all the little things I’ve come to love about that). So rather than take you on a tour of my mind, I want to hear about what you love. What are you passionate about? What keeps you inspired?
Leave me a sentence, or leave me a story. I’ll read every one of them. :)

Starting The Week With A Grateful Heart

It’s Monday, and that means a fresh start for the week! Usually Monday’s sound pretty drab, but I found this cute little link up through one of the lovely ladies at the Peony Project (which for those of you bloggers out there looking for a community to join, this is a great place to start!), and I thought I’d give it try to get my Monday going. Emily hosts the Grateful Heart linkup every Monday, and it sounds like a great way to connect with other bloggers while sparking some thoughts for the week! I’m also linking up with Charlie Jaymes, who just started a Monday linkup, and Jack Of All Trades. Y’all should definitely go check them out. :)
A few things I’m grateful for today:
Travelling. I’m absolutely loving this California vacation!
My friends back home that have kept in touch with me everyday.
Bobby pins. This weather is not loving me today.
Blogging friends and this amazing community; I love meeting y’all!
The HGTV channel. It always saves me when nothing else is on, like right now.
My Monday is actually turning out to be pretty productive; I got to visit Venice Beach this morning, which was a lot different than I had expected! Let’s just say, it’s not as appealing as I’d expected, but there are still some beautiful qualities about it. I actually stumbled upon an old man playing the piano along the boardwalk; he was amazing! Everyone was giving him tips, and I thought that was really neat! It’s interesting to see how creative people get when it comes to making money.
It’s been a cloudy day, but that didn’t stop me from taking a quick walk on the beach. At least it kept the crowds away!

Now for those of you that aren’t in the Peony Project or didn’t see my post, I came up with an idea last night for a project I want to start as I head out to college. It’s basically an Instagram challenge, and while I don’t have all the details worked out yet, I do know that it will be called The #FINDYOURPASSION Project. I’ll be making a post about it soon to get some suggestions from y’all, so keep an eye out for that!
I hope y’all have a fantastic Monday, and be sure to spread around some positive energy to those struggling to get through theirs!
