After years of looking at the same cluttered bulletin board above my desk, I decided it was time for some change. I love designing and decorating anything I find, so this was a really fun project! The best part? I had everything I needed sitting in my room, so no inconvenient trip to the craft store. I documented the process of redesigning my board to show you guys some cool ideas that you might incorporate into your own; let’s just say, Pinterest was my personal assistant for the day. I hope you enjoy!
I started off by printing out a few of my favorite pictures and cutting them to the size I wanted. Thank God for paper trimmers!
Instead of just pinning the pictures directly onto the board, I decided hanging them might be a cute idea. I found some burlap string and laid it across the board, taping it around the back so it was almost taught, but loose enough that it would hang down when the pictures were strung on it.
Keeping up with the craftiness, I took out some mini clothes pins and decorated them with metallic sharpies. I would’ve painted them, but sometimes the laziness just kicks in and I take the easy route.
I used the pins to hang the pictures across the board, and it turned out really well! I was able to fit nine photos comfortably, with varying orientations.
To fill up the rest of the space, I found a few random DIY projects that I thought would work well on the board. First, the classic string pom pom. For those of you that haven’t made one before, they’re super easy to put together. Just wrap some yarn around two of your fingers, tie a knot down the middle, cut the loops of yarn that are now around the knot, and fluff it up a bit. I left a few extra inches of yarn connected to the pom pom so I could hang it on my board.
For the rest of the space, I added in a few personal touches, like this verse I wrote on a piece of cardstock. You can use old cards, more pictures, small memorabilia, or anything else that you can find a way to stick on the board!
Here’s my final product! I’m super happy with how it turned out. I hope you found some interesting ideas on here, and if you did, I’d love for you to share them!
