It’s the second week of my sophomore year and I already know this month is going to be a hectic one! Remember how I posted last week about how I organize my blog and college life? Well, I’ve basically broken all of those rules already, so before this semester becomes a replay of last year’s 4-month blogging break, I want to get my goals for the month out there so I feel more obligated to keep accountable!
Blog Goals
Post At Least Once A Week
This semester I’m taking a whopping 17 hours (and with the way my university does hours, that actually adds up to 25 and a half hours), so I’m not going to lie to myself and say I have time to post multiple times a week. I’ve already had to put my social life to the side by not going through rush or spirit recruitment this semester, so blogging is unfortunately taking the same fall for the next few months. I don’t want to stop blogging completely though, so I think this is a reasonable goal!
Use Pinterest More Strategically
Ever since I heard about Melyssa’s new Pinfinite Growth eCourse, I’ve been eager to revamp my profile and put more focus on using Pinterest to grow my blog. I can’t really afford to pay for the course right now, but it still inspired me to take a look at my strategies and put more focus on how I use the platform! My goal is to reach 2000 followers by the end of the semester, which I’m fairly confident I can do if I really work on this!
Start Designing More Blogs
Most of my school projects revolve around coding, so I’m definitely feeling the urge to start designing blogs again. Not necessarily for other people (depending on how busy I get), but just for the experience and fun of it!
Life Goals
Join One Club And Stick With It
I was hoping to join a spirit group this semester, but after thinking about how much time I actually have outside of class and homework, I decided to prioritize my major and look at clubs that will require less of a commitment and still be beneficial to me. I’m attending a few meetings this week, so hopefully I’ll find one that I love!
Attend EXPO
EXPO is basically a career fair for the engineering department at my university, and lucky for me, it’s next week. I attended last year and got an interview with Microsoft for their Explore Microsoft program, and I’m really hoping to get further through the process this year and make it in!
Get Back To Eating Healthy
During the summer I was pretty good about eating well and sticking to clean foods. Now that I’m back on campus though, it’s so much harder to avoid eating out or late at night. Thankfully my cafeteria has a lot of healthy options, so I want to start eating there more often and restricting myself from midnight trips to the local ice cream shop (they serve ice cream cookie sandwiches and I’ve already been twice this week because it’s that fantastic).
Attend A Hackathon
I’m signed up to attend HackTX at the end of the month, so if all goes as planned, this will be an easy goal! I already have a group together, but we have no clue what we’re going to work on over the weekend, so there’s still a lot of planning to do. This will be my first hackathon so I’m excited to see what it’s like!
Do you have any fun goals for the month?

17 hours?! That’s a lot, but I know you can do it! I’m going into my senior year… and it’s going to be hectic for me too. It’s just going to be super important to keep track of everything and prioritize school, etc. Good luck this year!
You can do this!!! I’m heading to my first year of college this Fall and with a YouTube channel + a blog, I don’t know if I can do it…but I’m definitely going to try my best! You seem to have it planned and sorted though so that’s good!

Yay! I always love hearing your goals. It sounds like you’re going to have a busy semester! I remember sophomore and junior years were always crazy for me, and I only blogged a couple times a month. I also want to focus more on Pinterest after hearing about Melyssa’s course. Did you do her last webinar? Her new one this weekend sounds really helpful too!
I can’t wait to see how your semester goes! Wishing you all the luck with your goals!
