E.g. when it comes to Instagram, even those not owning any business tend to have 2 accounts: public and private. It’s easier with facebook, you can create a business page using your regular one, and you are meant to do so and not to sing up anew. But to have a twitter for both work and personal life – unimaginable for me.

I am a Marketing and Social Media Manager by trade and although I am used to managing multiple accounts and campaigns, now that I am launching my own personal lifestyle blog, I find myself in a pickle about this exact thing. My husband suggested that I think far into the future and decide if I would be comfortable with my personal life overlapping with personal blog posts and personal social media accounts forever. After pondering that, I decided that I definitely needed a Facebook fan page that had nothing to do with my personal account. My personal Pinterest is pretty built up so I felt that I could use that to my advantage and they made those updates very easy. I actually still haven’t decided about Instagram and Twitter, but I feel confident in the decisions that I have made thus far! Haha. I have you ladies to thank for that :) I can’t wait to get this blog up and running and connect with you gals. Thanks for the help!

It took me a while, but I made the decision to make a separate Instagram account, but keep my same Twitter. I’ve done alright building up the Instagram, so I’m happy with that (especially because I don’t think my college friends and family would care about it much). I worried about building the Twitter from scratch, though, which I think is the main reason I kept it as one account. I had to make a Twitter for a project this past year, and it was so difficult starting from scratch! Great post! I really think this is a common struggle, especially for new bloggers.

It is so hard to build a following on there with all the spam accounts but I love having a feed full of all my favourite bloggers photos. I definitely agree with how annoying it is flipping between the two accounts and I have recently found (a kind of) solution… I log into my personal account on my computer and my blog on my phone.

Thankyou for the post very helpful since I am new to blogging.

I’ll have to look into that and add it to this post after playing around, thanks for the tip!!

Sometimes I feel like I’m holding myself back with just one account, so having two lets me be full-on blogger on those accounts!

Thankfully Twitter made that pretty easy, but Instagram is still making you do that. And I never thought about how that would affect your Google rankings, thanks for the tip!

Twitter is definitely best to have separate accounts. And a Facebook page never hurt anyone.

One I’m conflicted on is LinkedIn. I do consider my blog a business, and a lot of my contacts and relationships get built there. However, some of my friends don’t care about my blog (sad for them). What do you think about LinkedIn?
