This helped me add to my own list things that I might have forgotten. I also thought about some paper holders for the desk, because college tends to give you a lot of papers to keep up with!

Those pictures you see of the spacious dorm rooms with chairs and lots of people in them are either a myth or only for the REALLY BIG colleges. The best idea is to pack the bare necessities to start. Chances are, wherever your college is, a store will be also, so you can always get more stuff once you know how everything will fit. Plus, less stuff means less stuff to pack when it’s time to leave. You can’t imagine how many kids at my college were throwing away perfectly good chairs, bedding, vacuums, lamps, etc. because they didn’t have room to bring them home (and why they didn’t sell or donate them is beyond me). Trust me, this is only temporary, so less IS more.

The body pillow can be shoved in between the bed and the wall which will undoubtedly double as extra seating. Not to mention it keeps your phone from falling into the abyss between the bed and the wall. Also a back pillow can be used while doing homework in bed or on the floor to lean on. It allows for you to keep your regular pillows nice and fluffy.
